Sunflash moved quietly amongst the hillsides, checking back over his shoulder. Sight seemed pretty happy, still by the riverside, doing whatever it was that mares liked doing. Him? He wanted some time to explore his lands; push the boundaries, see how far he ruled for. He'd gone about a mile now, and from his high vantage point Sight was just a white speck amongst the green and blue, and he felt that if he jumped now, and didn't put his feet on the floor again, he might fly.
Of course, that was, after all, ridiculous.
He continued for what seemed like, and probably was, hours, into unfamiliar territory; mountainous, scrubby and parched-looking. He smelt something else in the air, and decided that this land, this new land, had to belong to some other stallion. The green paradise he owned, he was sure had ended back on the other side of the hilly landscape. Sure of his walls now, he turned and left as silently as he could, wondering whose land he had penetrated just then, and what had happened while he had been away. He flounced back into the part of his secure, happy world that he was most fond of; the part with the lake and the overhanging willow, the part with the exotic plants and sweet-smelling apple trees, and glanced about for Sight, seeing that wherever she had gone, she had definitely vanished. What was it mares did every minute of every day?
It confused him lots, but he was, after all, a stallion, and stallions never seemed to know what mares were up to. Smiling at his own notion, he looked about.
"Sight? You there?"
